Crimson Moon PC system requirements
Steam’s current tables, storage, and the older articles that disagree.
Crimson Moon on PC is a DirectX 12, 50 GB, Windows 11 install according to the Steam store page for app 4317690. If you are on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series, you can leave this page. If you are on a laptop from 2018, stay. Specs below are copied from Steam’s minimum and recommended blocks as they stood in late August 2026. Store pages change. If Steam disagrees with this wiki on September 1, Steam wins.
Minimum (Steam)
- OS: Windows 11, 64-bit
- CPU: Intel Core i5-8400 / AMD Ryzen 5 2600
- RAM: 16 GB
- GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 / AMD Radeon RX 5700
- DirectX: 12
- Storage: 50 GB
- Audio: Surround sound listed
- VR: No
Minimum is “it boots and you can hunt.” It is not a promise of 60 FPS in a Hellgrowth street with two co-op partners and every gore chunk on. If you sit exactly on a 1070, close overlays, use an SSD, and do not expect ultra-plus ray-traced stained glass.
Recommended (Steam)
- OS: Windows 11, 64-bit
- CPU: Intel Core i7-10700K / AMD Ryzen 5 5600X
- RAM: 32 GB
- GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 / AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT
- DirectX: 12
- Storage: 50 GB
- Audio: Surround sound listed
- VR: No
32 GB is the headline that catches people who still live at 16. If you have 16 GB on an otherwise recommended CPU, you may still hunt, but you are not on the studio’s recommended line. The 3070 / 6700 XT pair is the image-quality target for the gothic High Renaissance art that previews praised.
Why other sites list different GPUs
Older roundups (and some Epic-region pages) printed a milder minimum: Windows 10, i5-9500 / Ryzen 5 3500X, GTX 1660 Ti / RX 5500 XT. Steam’s English page at the end of August 2026 is stricter: Windows 11 and a 1070-class card. This wiki follows Steam because that is the storefront that will refuse your refund argument. If Epic still shows the milder block in your region, believe the store you are buying from, and still over-provision if you care about frame time in boss arenas.
Storage, SSD, and download planning
50 GB is the listed install. Pre-load, if your storefront offers one, will want that space the night before September 1. An HDD will make Sanctus Clypeus hitch. Use an SSD. Shader compilation on first boot is normal for this generation of Unreal-looking titles; give the prologue a few minutes before you judge hitching.
Steam Deck compatibility is unknown on the store page. Do not buy the game as a Deck-first title until Valve posts a rating. A 1070 desktop minimum is not a handheld promise.
CPU, RAM, and background junk
The minimum CPU is a 2017–2018 six-core. It will be busy. Chrome plus Discord plus a 16 GB minimum kit is how you hitch in Forsaken Streets. Close the browser. The recommended RAM is 32 GB because the city is dense and co-op is two full character kits plus gore. If you play with a friend, budget the CPU as if two games were running in one world — because they are.
A practical buy / don’t-buy check
- Buy on PC if you meet or beat the 1070 / 16 GB / Win 11 line and you want mods or a mouse for menus.
- Buy on console if you are under that line or you do not want to think about drivers on launch night.
- Do not expect a Mac or Linux listing. Steam’s platforms block is Windows only.
- Do not confuse this $19.99 game with a live-service client that will double in size every season. 50 GB is the number they printed.
After you pass the spec gate, spend the rest of your attention on getting started and combat. A 3070 does not parry for you.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers before you enter Gildenarch.
Can I run Crimson Moon on Windows 10?
Steam’s current minimum says Windows 11. Older articles listed Windows 10. Believe the storefront you purchase from, and do not plan a 10-only box without checking Steam again.
Is 16 GB of RAM enough?
16 GB is the minimum. 32 GB is recommended. If you co-op with overlays open, treat 16 GB as tight.
Will it run on Steam Deck?
Compatibility is listed as unknown. A GTX 1070-class minimum is not evidence it is a Deck game.
How big is the download?
Steam lists 50 GB of available space for both minimum and recommended.
